Job Summary

A PC Technician, also known as a Computer Technician or Desktop Support Technician, is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software components of personal computers. The role includes installing and configuring computer systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Maintenance and Repair:
  • Diagnose hardware issues and replace defective components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on PCs.
  • Assemble and disassemble computer components as needed.
  • Software Installation and Support:
  • Install and configure operating systems and application software.
  • Troubleshoot software issues and perform necessary updates.
  • Ensure proper functionality of antivirus and other security software.
  • Network Connectivity:
  • Set up and maintain network connections for PCs.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and ensure stable internet connectivity.
  • Assist with the setup of networked peripherals such as printers and scanners.
  • Customer Support:
  • Provide technical support to users via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Document customer issues and resolutions in a helpdesk system.
  • Educate users on best practices for maintaining their computer systems.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain inventory of computer parts and supplies.
  • Order new hardware and software as needed.
  • Track and document all hardware and software installations.
  • Security:
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect computer systems.
  • Conduct regular security checks and updates.
  • Ensure data backup and recovery processes are in place.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs and installations.
  • Generate reports on system performance and issues.
  • Keep manuals and technical documentation up to date.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and Mac OS.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware components and their functions.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Problem-Solving:
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Customer Service:
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with non-technical users.
  • Patience and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Certifications:
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Other relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Professional, Network+) are a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Prior experience as a PC Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with remote support tools and helpdesk software.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require lifting and carrying heavy equipment.
  • Occasional travel to different sites for on-site support.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.

Career Path:

  • With experience, a PC Technician can advance to roles such as IT Support Specialist, Network Administrator, or Systems Analyst.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹9,000.00 - ₹12,500.00 per month
